Crypto Merchant Settlement: Cashing Out vs Spending by Card

Comparison of cashing out via an exchange and using earnings in a Xerovan account

How you use crypto payment earnings directly affects a merchant’s cash flow. Here is how the two main approaches compare.

Cashing out through an exchange

You send earnings to an exchange, sell, and withdraw to a bank. It’s the familiar route when you need money in a fiat account, but each step takes time and costs fees, and withdrawal limits can get in the way.

Spending by card from a Xerovan account

You receive earnings in a Xerovan account and pay right away with a Visa card. This works best when many of your costs are paid by card, such as ads and subscriptions. You only use the amount you need, so there’s no need to convert all your earnings at once.

Which one fits

  • Card spending: merchants with many online costs and overseas payments
  • Cashing out: costs that need a bank transfer, such as payroll and rent
  • Both: operating costs by card, with the rest cashed out regularly

Costs to compare

Add up exchange fees, withdrawal fees, exchange rates, network fees and card fees, then compare them on the same amount. Fees vary by country and transaction type.
